Description

This is an early model 1227 Anglepoise by Herbert Terry, probably dating from the late 1930s. Although the base is 2nd generation, the shade and forks are from the original 1227. Anglepoise said it was common practice to use up old stock when a new model came out.

 

When The Light Man found it, it had previously been repainted red and black, and fitted with a white PVC cable. Completely dismantled and cleaned, it was then resprayed in burnt orange. A new lampholder was fitted as the old one had become brittle and cracked, along with new black braided twisted cable and new plug.
